Crafted from wood, its frame takes on a curvy bombe silhouette and features a deep green/teal finish that's been finished with dark wax which adds depth, interest, and a sense of old world charm. This chest has 3 drawers and absolutely beautiful original hardware.
What's a bombe chest? A bombe chest, because of its name alone, exudes an exotic but elegant allure. It comes from French, meaning "curved." That's just what it means when you call it a bombe chest – its curves are its defining aspect. Bombe chests bulge outward in the front and on the sides and then curves in at the base.
This chest was hand painted in our studio using Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan. We painted this chest in Florence, then finished it first with Clear Wax and then Dark Wax, creating a finish that's both durable and elegant. Gilding Wax was applied to the hardware to brighten the original gold tone.
