The Painted Hunt Board

Although it's a slightly different type of furniture in the UK, in the US a Hunt Board is a high sideboard table, often without drawers, used for serving breakfast before and a collation after a hunt.

​Truthfully, we didn't know that when we decided to paint this piece red but I'm so glad we chose it since red is the traditional color for a formal hunt jacket.  

This red is a custom color we mixed by combining equal parts Primer Red and Emporer's Silk Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan.  We used this on a custom piece we painted for a client a few months ago and we knew we wanted to use it again.

Once we had the piece painted we finished it with Annie Sloan's Clear Soft Wax followed by her new Black Soft Wax to add age and dimension.

The original wood top was in pristine condition so we just left it the way it was but we freshened up the drawers with a coat of Country Grey Chalk Paint.

The original hardware was bright gold and a bit formal looking so we swapped it out for these cast iron pulls and knobs.
