We tell people all the time that Sunday is our version of Friday. Paul and I are in the store every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Tuesday and Wednesday we can be found working in our own studio, so Monday is our ‘day off.’ Mondays are usually spent sleeping in, taking care of personal business, and going grocery shopping. But it’s also our only shopping day of the week. We have a regular circuit for our shopping trips. Our time is so limited now that we need to shop where we think we will be lucky enough to find the right things at the right price. This week we found some beautiful pieces that are a little different for us but are in line with our changing tastes and the tastes of our customers so we thought they’d be nice additions to the shop. If you’ve been to our shop looking for a coffee table you know that we don’t usually have any. They usually take up a lot of floor space and they are low so people tend to bump into them but we saw this one and loved the simplicity of the lines and the glass top. It’s perfect for someone looking for an uncluttered look. This mirrored cabinet was really beautiful and a nice size - not too, big but not skimpy either. We thought it would make a great bedside table or side table. We purchased these pieces on Monday afternoon but we weren't in our SUV so we told them we’d be back to pick them up in the morning. Then look what we spotted when we went back on Tuesday! These beautiful black wing chairs with silver nail heads! So we snapped these up, too and they look perfect on either side of the mirrored cabinet! Ok, that’s what we actually purchased this week but there are a couple other items that we saw and are highly worth mentioning even though we didn't buy them. These are larger pieces that we’d love to pick up but that won’t currently fit in the shop so we thought we’d feature them here. If you’re interested, just email us at info@soldier58.com or call us at 609.433.9166 and we will pick them up for you. The Mid Century/Danish Modern sofa with built in marble top end tables ($1,200) is a stunner! We’ve been drooling over this for a few weeks and just can’t figure out where we would put it. It’s 10 feet long and our friend Mike at the shop where we found it described it as “the sweetest nectar of the whole nectar family” (Mike is a character and has a way with words, as you can see).
This Vintage Church Pew ($599) is 9 feet long! Great for anyone with a long hallway or a big, empty wall in the living room. We can’t wait to share with you what we find next week!! Johanna & Paul
